(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine for European Integration Taras Shevchenko discussed with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Ukraine, Helene Sand Andresen the support of Ukraine in the field of culture and media, as well as joint counteraction to Russian disinformation.
This was reported by the ministry's press service , Ukrinform learned.
"We are very interested in the widespread popularization of Ukrainian history because Russia exploits history to create fake stories and make false history actually the pretext behind the invasion, this war," Shevchenko said.
He emphasized that Ukraine seeks to institutionalize work with intangible cultural heritage and in the future to have a separate institution that would deal with the property of the Ukrainian people.
In turn, Helene Sand Andresen noted that after the full-scale invasion, the Norwegian partnership with Ukraine greatly intensified.

Last year, a five-year cooperation program was launched, she said, adding that this support program consists of civilian and humanitarian components, as well as a significant security one, proving that this is about a long-term partnership. This is not about donor assistance, the ambassador stressed, noting that Norway sees it as partnership. Russia's full-scale invasion made many realize that Ukraine's place is in Europe. And although Norway is not part of the European Union, the government believes Ukraine wants to and should be there, emphasized Sand Andresen.
She said that the support program for Ukraine is administered by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, Norad, in particular its civilian part. The scale of the program is bigger than anything Norway has ever done in any country, given Ukraine's recovery needs.
The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of culture, media, and combating disinformation.
As reported, 1,085 cultural heritage monuments were damaged or destroyed in Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression.
