Israeli air defenses intercept rocket fired from Yemen amid rising tensions

(MENAFN) On Sunday, the Israeli military reported that its air defense systems successfully intercepted a surface-to-surface missile launched from Yemen. The Arrow-3 air defense system was used to shoot down the missile before it had the chance to enter Israeli territory. The missile launch prompted air raid sirens to sound in the southern Israeli city of Eilat, causing residents to seek refuge in shelters.

The missile interception follows recent escalations, including Israeli airstrikes on Houthi military positions near the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah. These strikes were a direct response to a drone attack by the Houthi rebels on Tel Aviv. The ongoing conflict has heightened regional tensions, with both sides taking aggressive actions in response to each other's activities.
