Rail Connection Project With China-Uzbekistan Set To Transform Kyrgyzstan's Economy - Cabinet Of Ministers

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 17. The construction
of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad project will radically
change the state of Kyrgyzstan's economy, Chairman of the Cabinet
of Ministers and the Head of Kyrgyzstan's Presidential
Administration Akylbek Japarov said, Trend reports.
He spoke during the meeting of the board of Kyrgyzstan's
Ministry of Economy and Commerce on the results of the first half
of the year.
“In 2023, the GDP of Europe amounted to approximately $25.5
trillion, China - about $18 trillion, and the combined GDP of the
Central Asian countries did not even reach half a trillion,
amounting to $454 billion. Unfortunately, being in such a favorable
geographical position, Kyrgyzstan has not yet found its place as a
trading port and, being between two world giants, has not unlocked
its potential. We have already started construction of the
China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad, which will connect almost 4
billion people and expand the geography of cargo transportation
from Asia to Europe,” he said.
During the meeting, Akylbek Japarov also noted that the
construction of Kambarata HPP-1 will transform the county's
economy.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China signed an agreement
on cooperation in the joint promotion of the railroad project on
June 6.
The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad project is a strategic
infrastructure project that will connect China, Kyrgyzstan, and
Uzbekistan, creating a new overland transportation corridor between
Central and East Asia.
