Kuwait Red Crescent Helps 100 Female Rohingyan Students Graduate In Bangladesh


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, July 14 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) announced on Sunday that it helped and honored 100 female university students from the displaced Rohingya graduate at the Asian University for Women in the city of Chittagong situated in southeastern Bangladesh.
On this occasion, Director General of the KRCS, Abdulrahman Al-Aoun, said in a statement to KUNA that this humanitarian project was carried out with a generous grant from the Kuwait Finance House (KFH) to support the education of 100 displaced Rohingya female students in Bangladesh.
Al-Aoun stressed that education constitutes the cornerstone of society, underlining the importance of ensuring the right to education for all, including displaced people affected by armed conflicts, and that the association continues to support and provide relief to displaced Rohingya in cooperation with local partners and international organizations.
He expressed his sincere thanks to KFH for support of this humanitarian initiative, saying that it was the result of this generous support that led to the graduation of a group of displaced female students, which embodies Kuwait's role and its slogan 'Kuwait by your side' based on the guidelines of the leadership and humanitarian help of the Kuwaiti people.
He also thanked the Embassy of Kuwait in Bangladesh for their cooperation with the association's delegation and overcoming all obstacles to facilitate the delegation's mission.
On his part, Kamal Ahmad, founder and president of the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh, said that this project contributed greatly to provide a great opportunity for those deprived of education due to war and conflicts.
Kamal pointed out the role of the government and people of Kuwait in their contribution and efforts in supporting displaced Rohingyan brothers in Bangladesh.
He said that Kuwait's global humanitarian roles are appreciated by everyone, expressing his gratitude for this partnership and Kuwait's support for the university education project for female students, which contributes to the development of next generation and the building of humanity.
Kuwait Red Crescent Society has implemented many relief, medical and educational programs to support the displaced Rohingyans in Bangladesh. (end)
