(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Thirty-two combat engagements between Ukrainian forces and Russian invaders have already taken place in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Group of Forces since the beginning of Thursday.
Khortytsia Group of Forces Spokesperson Nazar Voloshyn said this on Ukrainian television, Ukrinform reports.
"At the moment, 32 combat engagements with the enemy have already taken place in our eastern operational zone. Currently, our Defense Forces are engaged in active combat operations with the enemy. Of course, the enemy does not stop his attempts, and today, in the eastern operational zone, more than 580 attacks from various types of weapons were carried out against our positions and Ukrainian territory, three airstrikes were carried out and eight guided aerial bombs and 17 kamikaze drones were used," Voloshyn said.
According to him, over the past 24 hours, in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Group of Forces, the enemy launched more than 3,700 shelling attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops, 147 combat clashes occurred, and Ukrainian artillery units completed almost 3,700 fire missions against enemy targets.
Commenting on the situation in Chasiv Yar, Voloshyn said that Ukrainian forces had retreated to more protected positions, but the enemy continued to attack and carried out 34 assaults during the day.
"At the moment, in that micro-district, where it was already announced that it was inexpedient to hold the Kanal micro-district, into which the enemy entered, because this posed a threat to the lives and health of our soldiers, and the positions of our defenders were destroyed, so the command made the decision to withdraw to more protected and more prepared positions. However, even there the enemy does not stop his active hostilities. He has certain deadlines that he has been unable to fulfill for several months in a row - to take the city of Chasiv Yar. The situation for the past day is as follows: in the area of Chasiv Yar, 238 shelling attacks from all types of weapons were recorded during the day. Yesterday, there were almost 260," the spokesman said, adding that the enemy carried out 34 assaults on Ukrainian positions yesterday and two assaults today.
Voloshyn also reported that 78 occupiers had been killed, 140 wounded, and 2 captured in the past 24 hours.
Commenting on the situation in the Toretsk area, Voloshyn noted that the enemy did not stop to conduct active combat operations.
"The enemy uses aircraft in that direction, which carries out 10-20 airstrikes during the day. Thus, the enemy destroys the entire infrastructure, as was done in the previous cities. The enemy's only attempt is to destroy something and then 'take' the ruins and hang their tricolor rag," the spokesman said.
