Biden reaffirms commitment to running for 2024 presidency despite debate criticism

(MENAFN) President Joe Biden has reaffirmed his determination to continue his presidential bid in 2024, despite facing criticism for his performance in last week's debate. Sources familiar with a call between Biden and his campaign team reported that the President expressed his unwavering resolve to stay in the race, emphasizing that no external pressures would compel him to withdraw.

In an email released by his campaign, Biden conveyed his steadfast commitment to his supporters, urging them to contribute financially to bolster his campaign against rival Donald Trump in the upcoming November 5 presidential election. This statement came amid concerns raised following a debate where Biden's delivery appeared hesitant and his focus occasionally wavering.

To reassure key stakeholders, including 24 Democratic governors and the mayor of Washington, Biden engaged in meetings both remotely and in person on Wednesday evening. The discussions aimed to dispel doubts about his ability to run for another term, addressing concerns raised in the aftermath of the debate.

During the debate, Biden faced criticism for mumbling and occasionally losing track of his points, attributing some of these lapses to fatigue following recent international trips and a reported cold, according to statements from the White House. Despite these challenges, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre firmly dismissed any speculation of Biden considering withdrawal from the race, affirming his resolute stance to continue leading his campaign forward.
