Lower House Speaker Urges Investment In AI Education, Research


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi on Saturday said that the significant advancements in artificial intelligence and the revolution it has caused globally necessitate that the Arab region considers all means to keep pace with developed countries.

Safadi, while attending the "Impact of technology and Innovation in Enhancing Arab Economic Growth" conference, added that such efforts include addressing any legislative gaps, investing in Arab data, and ensuring its presence on various search engines, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Safadi stressed the importance of intensifying Arab efforts to develop clear strategies and plans to handle the impacts of artificial intelligence, such as job erosion, highlighting the need to develop knowledge tools that enable future generations to keep up with the significant developments in this field.

He noted that artificial intelligence represents both a real challenge and an opportunity for governments and the private sector to advance digitisation.

The Lower House speaker said that this can be achieved by taking effective steps towards investing in the digital economy and integrating this development across various fields, calling for swift and decisive action to keep pace with global advancements, ensuring a place for the Arab region in this rapidly evolving field.

Safadi noted that keeping pace with developed countries in the field of artificial intelligence requires a set of measures, such as encouraging and developing educational programmes, transitioning from traditional to modern methods at schools and universities, and establishing institutes, universities, and information centres specialising in artificial intelligence.
