Jordan, Iraq Discuss Transport Cooperation

Amman, June 27 (Petra) - Minister of Transport, Wissam Tahtamouni , affirmed Jordan's readiness to provide "full" support to Iraq in the field of exchanging expertise for "successful" transport and infrastructure projects.
During her meeting Thursday in Amman, with Iraqi Minister of Transport, Razzaq Al-Saadawi, and his accompanying delegation, Tahtamouni said expertise transfer in transport projects with Iraq and Arab countries is a "priority" for Jordan to promote joint projects and sustainable development in the region.
Tahtamouni also stressed the "deep-rooted, strong" bilateral relations at all levels, noting that such meetings reflect the "depth" of continued cooperation and coordination in the transportation field to achieve joint economic prosperity.
Tahtamouni highlighted "successful" experiences of Jordan's transportation projects, primarily Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), and Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT), aw well as the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project, which succeeded within Amman and between Amman and Zarqa.
Tahtamouni added that the BRT project will be implemented in the future in other Jordanian cities that suffer from traffic congestion, referring to Jordan's experience in special economic zones.
For his part, Al-Saadawi stressed the "depth of the distinguished" Jordanian-Iraqi relations, expressing his country's appreciation to the Kingdom's government and people for their "historic" positions towards Iraq.
Al-Saadawi stressed the importance of strengthening joint partnerships under new "strategic" projects, in light of the two countries' commonalities, expressing his keenness to learn about Jordan's "successful" experiences in the transportation sectors.
The Iraqi minister spoke about the Iraqi development road project, which is the largest in the region, adding that his country's vision aims to make it a giant international enterprise to achieve economic integration with neighboring countries.
