1961 -- The Kuwaiti people held huge demonstrations condemning statements by the Iraqi ruler Abdulkarim Qassem demanding annexation of the state of Kuwait. Chief of Kuwaiti Police and Public Security Appartus sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah made a statement lauding the protestors for manifesting sincere faithfulness to the Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and their readiness to defend Kuwait's freedom, Sovereignty and independence.
1961 -- Saudi King Saud bin Abdulaziz sent a number of forces, headed by Major-General Ibrahim Hassaan, to the State of Kuwait after the Iraqi regime deployed forces and demanded annexation of Kuwait. The Saudi forces deployment was in line with a defence pact that Saudi Arabia and State of Kuwait signed in 1948.
1961 -- The State of Kuwait joins the Arab Postal Union (APU).
2000 -- Kuwait's National Assembly (parliament) endorsed a bill for establishing private universities. It has advised these colleges to ensure adherence to the common ethics and Islamic norms within campuses.
2000 -- The National Assembly approved a bill regarding claims for state-owned real-estate plots.
2007 -- Abdulaziz Yaaqoub Al-Rushaid died at the age of 79. He was one of Kuwait's eminent media, poetic and literary personalities. He has also served as an Ambassador.
2011 -- Kuwait Oil Company won the International Safety Award granted by the British Safety Council.
2014 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KAFED) signed an accord with Lebanon to lend the country KD six million (USD 21 million) to finance a water project.
2014 -- Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI) won the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Award.
2015 -- Up to 25 people perished and 202 suffered injuries in a terrorist blast that has ripped through Imam Al-Sadeq Mosque in the district of Al-Sawaber in the heart of Kuwait City. Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah rushed to the scene a few minutes later, uttering his epic sentence: "these are my children," alluding to the victims.
2016 -- Tareq Sayyed Rajab, a pioneer figure in the sectors of heritage, arts, science and literature, passed away at the age of 80.
2021 -- Kuwait basketball team club won the 40th Gulf champions league for the second time on record.
2022 -- KFAED purchased bonds worth KD 500 million to support the Credit bank honor housing demands. (end) bs
