Amir, Dutch Prime Minister Hold Official Talks

Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Prime Minister of the friendly Kingdom of the Netherlands HE Mark Rutte, held official talks today at the Prime Minister's Office, Binnenhof, in The Hague.

At the beginning of the session, HE the Dutch Prime Minister welcomed His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation, noting that this first official visit by His Highness to the Netherlands reflects the depth of relations between the two countries.

He expressed his eagerness to work with His Highness to enhance mutual cooperation and elevate the relationship to broader horizons.

HE the Dutch Prime Minister commended the significant role of His Highness the Amir and the State of Qatar through their pivotal mediation efforts aimed at achieving an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

For his part, HH the Amir expressed his profound gratitude to the Dutch Prime Minister for the warm welcome and generous hospitality.

His Highness emphasized the importance of this visit in light of the distinguished relations between the two countries, expressing his hope that its outcomes will strengthen strategic cooperation in various fields, benefiting both nations and their peoples.

His Highness also reaffirmed Qatar's firm stance on the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to establish an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital within the framework of a two-state solution. He reiterated Qatar's continued efforts in diplomatic mediation aimed at halting the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

During the session, the two sides discussed aspects of cooperation and ways to enhance and develop them.

They also addressed key regional and international issues of mutual concern, especially the developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The session was attended by the Chief of the Amiri Diwan, HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, the Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, and several members of the official delegation accompanying His Highness.

On the Dutch side, the session was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Climate and Energy HE Rob Jetten, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Affairs and Employment HE Karien van Gennip and the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation HE Liesje Schreinemacher; along with a number of senior officials

His Highness the Amir and HE the Dutch Prime Minister witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on economic, commercial, and technical cooperation, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of defense.

Earlier, His Highness the Amir and the Dutch Prime Minister held a bilateral meeting during which they discussed a range of topics of mutual interest.
