Police Put On International Wanted List Those Involved In Attempted Murder Of Kazakh Journalist In Kyiv


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Kyiv Police have served suspicion notices to the perpetrators of the attempted murder of a Kazakh journalist, and they are currently on the international wanted list.

This was reported by the Kyiv police communication department , Ukrinform reports.

"Investigators of the Kyiv Police Investigation Department, under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, served suspicion in absentia on the defendants under Part 2 of Art. 15, subpara. 11, 12, Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - in the completed attempted murder committed by order and by prior conspiracy by a group of persons. The suspects have been put on the international wanted list and measures are being taken to detain them," the statement said.

As you know, on 18 June, the Kyiv police received information that an unknown person had shot a journalist, a citizen of Kazakhstan , in the head in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city when he and his wife were in a car near the house where he lived.

As a result of the gunshot wound, the 55-year-old victim was hospitalised in a serious condition in an intensive care unit.

Criminal investigation officers, criminal analysis specialists, investigators, forensic experts and other services were involved in solving this crime. As a result of a complex of operational and investigative measures, the police managed to establish that two foreigners aged 33 and 36 were involved in the crime.

The men face life imprisonment for committing a particularly serious crime.

As reported, on 18 June, a shooting took place in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, on V. Yarmola Street, when an unknown person shot a man in a parked car and fled.

According to media reports, the car was occupied by Kazakh opposition journalist Aidos Sadykov.

Following the incident, the Kyiv police opened a criminal investigation into the attempted murder of the journalist, a citizen of Kazakhstan.

The Sadykovs moved to Kyiv from Kazakhstan in 2014. Aidos Sadykov was subjected to criminal prosecution in his homeland, as he claims, for political reasons.

In Ukraine, they were granted refugee status and ran the YouTube channel Basse, where they criticised the Kazakh authorities and oligarchs and supported the protests in Kazakhstan in 2022. In the autumn of 2023, Aidos and Nataliia Sadykov were put on the wanted list by the Kazakh authorities on charges of inciting hatred.
