Iran, Tajikistan forge stronger ties with 44 cooperation documents signed in 3 years

(MENAFN) The relationship between Iran and Tajikistan has experienced significant growth in recent years, as evidenced by the signing of 44 cooperation documents between the two nations. Nizamuddin Zahidov, the Tajik envoy to Iran, highlighted this positive trajectory during a meeting with the head of the Iran Mapping Organization, emphasizing the expansion of political, economic, and cultural ties between Tehran and Dushanbe.

Over the past three years, Iran and Tajikistan have strengthened their collaboration across various sectors, with a particular focus on enhancing trade and economic cooperation. Zahidov revealed that trade exchanges between the two countries amounted to USD270 million in the last Iranian year, underscoring the substantial economic partnership between Iran and Tajikistan. Furthermore, the presidents of both nations have set ambitious targets, aiming to elevate bilateral trade to USD500 million in the near future, signaling a promising outlook for continued cooperation, especially in trade and economy.

The 16th meeting of the Iran-Tajikistan Joint Economic Committee, held in Dushanbe in late December 2023, further solidified bilateral ties. Co-chaired by Iranian Energy Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian and Tajikistan Energy and Water Resources Minister Daler Juma, the meeting provided a platform for discussions on key economic issues and opportunities for collaboration. Concurrently, the inaugural "Made in Iran" specialized exhibition took place, showcasing the capabilities of Iranian industries. With the participation of 30 top Iranian companies, the exhibition aimed to promote Iranian products and expertise in basic industries, reinforcing the bonds of economic partnership between the two countries.

As Iran and Tajikistan continue to deepen their cooperation across various sectors, these initiatives demonstrate a shared commitment to fostering mutual growth and prosperity, laying the foundation for enduring bilateral relations.
