Jordon Welcomes UNSC's Adoption Of Gaza Ceasefire Resolution

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, June 11 (KUNA) -- The Jordanian Foreign Ministry welcomed, Tuesday, the United Nations Security Council's adoption of a comprehensive ceasefire resolution, an prisoners exchange agreement, and the entrance of humanitarian aid into the whole of Gaza.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry praised the resolution's rejection of attempts to impose demographic and geographical change within Gaza, reaffirming the two-state solution as a means to achieve peace.
The Ministry's spokesperson Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Qudah underscored the importance of the resolution that abides by international humanitarian laws and principles, and the resolution's assurances for protecting Palestinian civilians.
Dr. Qudah stressed the "right of return" for Palestinian civilians after the ceasefire, and the total withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli occupation, Qudah added, should adhere to international laws and international humanitarian laws, and stop its war on Gaza, which resulted in countless tragedies since October 2023.
The ceasefire resolution would initiate the necessary rebuilding process in Gaza within the framework of the 1967 plan of having a sovereign Palestinian state with occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital, he said. (end)
