Piece Of Stone From Aghdam Juma Mosque Presented To National Leader Heydar Aliyev 24 Years Ago Returned To Its Place (VIDEO)

A piece of stonefrom the Aghdam Juma Mosque, handed over 24 years ago by US StateDepartment Special Representative, former OSCE Minsk GroupCo-Chairman Carey Cavanaugh, to National Leader Heydar Aliyev, hasbeen returned to the Aghdam Juma Mosque, Trend reports.

“A piece of stone from the Aghdam Juma Mosque was handed over tothe national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, onMay 9, 2000, during the occupation of Azerbaijani lands. Yearslater, this piece of stone was returned to the Aghdam Juma Mosque,which was opened after restoration,” the information says.

To note, 24 years ago, Carey Cavanaugh handed over a piece ofstone from the Aghdam Juma Mosque to National Leader Heydar Aliyev,saying, "This is a small piece of stone from the mosque in Aghdam is a piece of land we dream of restoring. We hope that themosque itself will be returned”.
