Turkmenistan And OTS Aim To Expand Comprehensive Co-Op


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 28. Turkmenistanand the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) discussed the expansionof mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, Trend reports.

According to an official source, these issues were discussedduring a meeting in Ashgabat between the President of TurkmenistanSerdar Berdimuhamedov and the Secretary General of OTS KubanychbekOmuraliev.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development ofcooperation within the framework of the OTS in the fields of trade,economy, transport, tourism, ecology, youth policy, and thepreservation of the Turkic cultural heritage.

Turkmenistan's significant contribution to building upinterstate cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, an integral partof world politics and diplomacy, was noted.

Additionally, it was emphasized at the meeting that theorganization attaches particular importance to strengtheningproductive cooperation with Turkmenistan, which holds observerstatus in the OTS.

"The further development of effective and constructive relationswith the Turkic states occupies an important place inTurkmenistan's foreign policy strategy," Berdimuhamedovstressed.

In this regard, he emphasized that since Turkmenistan joined theOrganization of Turkic States as an observer country, the dialoguein the format of this structure has been filled with newcontent.

As part of the interested exchange of views on the prospects forcooperation in the OTS space, taking into account its solidpotential, it was noted that expanding the range of programs andprojects in various fields, primarily in education, science, andculture, will serve to successfully promote mutually beneficialinterstate partnerships, filling them with specific content.

Meanwhile, the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is aninterstate bloc created with the aim of expanding cooperationbetween Turkic-speaking countries in the fields of politics,economics, science, education, transport, and tourism.

The OTS Secretary General arrived in Ashgabat city toparticipate in an international conference on 'Main Directions andPotential for Tourism Development in Turkmenistan', which wasactively attended by representatives of ministries and departmentsof Turkmenistan as well as representatives of leading tourismorganizations.
