BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27. A presentation ofthe href="" or website, established by Azerbaijan's Public Association of Veteransof Special Services 'Alliance' has taken place, Trend reports.
The association's chairman Fakhri Abbasov noted at thepresentation ceremony that the launch of such an informationresource on the eve of the professional holiday of special servicepersonnel is of great significance.
"The main goal and objective of the href="" or website are to popularize andpromote association activities, the history of Azerbaijan'ssecurity agencies, and the role of the service in ensuring thestate's security. The Alliance began its activities in 2002 and wasregistered by the Ministry of Justice in May 2004. This year marksour 20th anniversary. Support from the State Security Service iscrucial for the active work of the Alliance, and we'll continue ouractivities successfully.
Our country pays great attention to veterans of securityagencies. Tomorrow we celebrate our professional holiday, our 105thanniversary. I sincerely congratulate each of you, the leadershipof the State Security Service, personally Ali Naghiyev, and theentire team of the Service, on the occasion of our professionalholiday," Abbasov said.
The Alliance's Honorary Chairman Shamil Suleymanov pointed outin his speech that the purpose of creating the association is todraw attention to veterans.
"Currently, the number of association members is about 700 work is being done for veterans; anniversaries arecelebrated, and veterans and the State Security Service highlywelcome our activities," he explained.
Deputy Chairman of the Alliance Ali Orujov also spoke about theassociation's activities.
He emphasized that in 1967, the national leader Heydar Aliyevwas the first Azerbaijani citizen appointed to the position ofChairman of the Committee for State Security of Azerbaijan.
"After that, the situation completely changed. Previous leadersof the Committee for State Security were representatives of othernationalities, and there was a different attitude towardsAzerbaijanis; they were not appointed to positions. However, thegreat leader Heydar Aliyev changed the situation, and a new stagebegan in the history of the security agencies: the promotion ofnational cadres," Orujov reminded.
In his speech, Alliance member Elshad Hasanov noted that greatattention is paid to veterans of security agencies.
He added that the Alliance promotes the policy pursued by theAzerbaijani state.
"From now on, the activities of the association will bereflected on the href="" target=or website," Hasanov said.
Another Alliance member, Hamlet Ismayilov, who spoke next,talked about the activities of security agencies.
He noted that security agencies, by showing vigilance,successfully ensure the security of Azerbaijan and will continue todo so in the future.
