Iran's MAPNA exceeds 50,220 MW milestone in electricity generation capacity


(MENAFN) Iran's MAPNA Group has achieved a significant milestone, with its power plants now boasting a total electricity generation capacity of 50,220 megawatts (MW). This surpasses the capacity of 160 countries, including prominent nations like Switzerland, Sweden, Netherlands, Finland, Argentina, and Norway. Remarkably, MAPNA's power plants contribute to more than 50 percent of Iran's overall power generation capacity, as indicated by data released by the group.

Since its inception in 1993, MAPNA Group has been instrumental in the construction of various types of power plants across Iran. The breakdown includes the successful development of 36,355 MW of gas units, 1,950 MW of thermal steam units, 11,374 MW of combined steam units, and 165 MW of wind and solar power plants. Additionally, the company has implemented 376 MW of medium, small, and mobile-scale plants throughout the country.

Undoubtedly, MAPNA Group remains committed to expanding its impact, with ongoing projects both within Iran and abroad. The company's endeavors extend to various sectors, including thermal and renewable power plants, oil and gas, railway transportation, and other industrial initiatives. Notably, MAPNA is also recognized for its prowess in manufacturing essential equipment such as gas and steam turbines, electrical generators, turbine blades and vanes, HRSG and conventional boilers, electric and control systems, gas compressors, locomotives, and other pertinent machinery.

The financial magnitude of MAPNA's achievements in the field of electricity is noteworthy, with the estimated value of completed projects reaching €24 billion. Furthermore, the ongoing projects within Iran alone hold a substantial value of approximately €8.0 billion. Originally conceived in 1993 with the primary objective of becoming a general contractor for thermal power plants, MAPNA Group has undergone a transformative evolution over two decades. Today, it stands as the first and foremost West Asian-based general contractor of thermal power plants in the MENA region, showcasing its resilience, diversification, and prominent role in shaping the region's energy landscape.
