Kerala: Move To Include CPI(M) Leader's Autobiography In MA English Syllabus Of Kannur University, Opposed


(MENAFN- ians) thiruvananthapuram, aug 24 (ians) kannur university's decision to include in the ma english syllabus, an autobiography titled“ my life as a comrade” of cpi(m) legislator and former health minister k.k. shailaja, has drawn stiff resistance from few quarters.

the teacher's organisation attached to the congress have already come out against this act, which they term is nothing but politically motivated, while the save university campaign committee has written to the kerala governor- arif mohammed khan, who is also the chancellor of universities, to ensure that this is removed.

in their complaint to khan, they point out that while the court has cancelled the board of studies appointed by kannur university vice-chancellor gopinath ravindran as it did not have the clearance of the chancellor, he appointed an ad-hoc committee which recommended shailaja's autobiography.

they pointed out that it was most unfortunate that this has come at a time when she is facing a probe into the alleged massive corruption that took place during purchases made during the covid time and her book as been included along with that of the father of nation, titled, ' my experiments with truth,' and it's like abusing gandhiji.

with the controversy breaking out, the university authorities have said that this has been included as a compulsory topic and only as a reference.
