(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna discussed further steps for the practical implementation of the Vilnius Summit decisions with the heads of missions and ambassadors of NATO member states. The meeting took place at the Embassy of Lithuania in Kyiv, and Head of the NATO Representation in Ukraine Karen McTear took part in it, Ukrinform reports with reference to the office of the deputy prime minister .
As noted, the participants exchanged views on the results and significance of the NATO Summit for the future of Euro-Atlantic security and also agreed on the importance of maximum use of all available tools of Ukraine-NATO cooperation.
Stefanishyna thanked Lithuania for the high level of organization of the Summit and the strong support for Ukraine. She emphasized that this support was felt in every corner of Vilnius.
"Today, a week after the Summit, we can see a broader picture of the results. NATO as a security alliance has established a clear position regarding everything related to the security environment around Europe, we have an unequivocal response to the Russian Federation regarding its nuclear and military threats. At the same time, the decision on security guarantees for Ukraine on the way to NATO, agreed at the G7 level, is also a really strong decision," the government official said.
She stressed that an individual dialogue with each country regarding a clear security framework for Ukraine has already begun. Several European countries, apart from G7 members, already declared their readiness to join this process.
The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that the security agreements reached in no way replace Ukraine's membership in NATO, and the Alliance members are united in the fact that Ukraine is part of the European and Euro-Atlantic family, and Ukraine's future is in NATO.
As reported, during the Vilnius Summit on July 11, NATO member states agreed on a three-element support package that should bring Ukraine closer to joining the Alliance. It provides for the abolition of the requirement to implement the MAP; long-term military aid program; launch of the Ukraine-NATO Council.
