As reported by Ukrinform, Ansar Osmanov, Marlen Mustafayev, Ernest Seitosmanov, and Amethan Abdulvapov were detained by Russian security forces on February 9, 2022. They were accused of alleged involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir – an Islamic political organization, which is recognized as a terrorist cell in Russia, but operates legally in Ukraine and most countries.

Ansar Osmanov actively attended the illegitimate "trials" targeting Crimean Tatars in temporarily occupied Crimea and the Russian Federation. He was previously detained after these hearings.
