JMI, USAID Makanati Sign Agreement To Promote Media Excellence

Amman, May 22 (Petra)--The Jordan media Institute (JMI) on Monday signed a partnership agreement with USAID Makanati Women's Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity, aimed to promoting development of Jordan's media workers.
In a JMI statement, under this partnership, the institute will provide a number of comprehensive programs aimed at enhancing professional development opportunities for journalists and media workers in Jordan, by implementing more than 270 training programs, designed to suit the needs of the sector's workers.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, JMI CEO, Mustafa Hamarneh, said: "As a leading media institution in Jordan, we are always keen to promote excellence in education in the journalism and media fields, and develop the worker skills in this area, looking forward to providing training programs tailored to meet the specific needs within this sector."
For his part, Daniel Swift, USAID Director of Economic Development and Energy Office, said this partnership will make a "true and lasting" impact on the lives of media workers and their communities.
Makanati director, Nermin Murad Jarlik, said this partnership contributes to creating a "more diverse and inclusive" media arena, also represents an "important" stage in improving women's access to jobs in the private sector, and providing "safe, fair and accessible "work environments for all.
According to the statement, these training programs feature the latest learning methods and provide practical opportunities to enter new media disciplines.
The statement indicated that the Makanati project, funded by the US government, provides certified capacity-building programs aim to train 60 workers in the journalism and media fields, who proved leadership capabilities.
The JMI added that the capacity building programs provide a slew of training courses on important topics in the media sector, primarily digital transformation, investigative journalism, and digital media.
