Iran's Non-Oil Exports to Neighbors See 19 Percent Growth in Past Year


(MENAFN) Iran's non-oil exports to its neighbors increased by 19 percent in the past Iranian calendar year 1401 (which ended on March 20), according to Ruhollah Latifi, the spokesman of Trade Development Committee of the Iranian House of Industry, Mining, and Trade. He revealed that 75.184 million tons of non-oil commodities worth USD30.537 billion were exported to neighboring countries in the previous year.

Iraq was the largest purchaser of non-oil goods from Iran, buying products worth USD10.238 billion, which accounted for a 15 percent growth and set a historical record. Turkey came in second, purchasing USD7.459 billion worth of goods, a 23 percent growth. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) followed with USD5.767 billion (a 28 percent growth), while Afghanistan registered an 11 percent drop, purchasing USD1.638 billion worth of goods, and Pakistan saw an 18 percent growth, purchasing USD1.448 billion worth of goods. Oman, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain ranked next in terms of purchasing Iranian goods among neighboring countries.

On the other hand, Iran imported 21.582 million tons of non-oil products valued at USD28.305 billion from its neighbors in the past year, reflecting a 10 percent growth in worth year on year. The UAE was the largest source of goods sales to Iran among the neighbors with sales of USD18.395 billion (an 11 percent growth), followed by Turkey with USD6.999 billion (a 15 percent growth). Russia saw a 5 percent drop with sales of USD1.577 billion, while Pakistan experienced a whopping 170 percent growth with sales of USD842 million. Oman also saw a 29 percent growth with sales of USD619 million. Iraq, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Kuwait, and Bahrain followed in the next ranks respectively.

The increase in non-oil exports from Iran to its neighbors is a positive trend, highlighting the country's efforts to diversify its economy and reduce its dependence on oil revenues. The growth in trade with neighboring countries is also a positive sign for regional economic integration and cooperation.
