South Pars Gas Complex Sends Over 110 Million Barrels of Gas Condensate to Persian Gulf Star Refinery

(MENAFN) The managing director of South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC) announced that more than 110 million barrels of gas condensate were sent to Persian Gulf Star Refinery (PGSR) in the past Iranian calendar year 1401. Ahmad Bahoush highlighted the strategic role of the complex in providing feed to the Persian Gulf Star Refinery and underlined that thirteen refineries of the SPGC play a crucial role in ensuring the self-reliance of the country in the production of the required fuel basket, particularly in the supply of gasoline and gas oil.

The Persian Gulf Star Refinery, located in Iran's southern province of Hormozgan, is the first of its kind designed based on gas condensate feedstock received from the South Pars gas field, which Iran shares with Qatar in the Persian Gulf. As the largest processing facility for gas condensate in West Asia, PGSR is planned to play a significant role in turning Iran into an exporter of gasoline.

By sending over 110 million barrels of gas condensate from all South Pars refineries to the Persian Gulf Star Refinery in 1401, Iran has made significant progress towards its goal of becoming an exporter of gasoline. PGSR has enabled Iran to become independent in gasoline production and export the product, despite facing U.S. sanctions.

The SPGC managing director previously announced that over 221.171 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas were processed in the complex during the past year. The complex's thirteen refineries and their strategic role in ensuring the country's self-reliance in the production of fuel demonstrate Iran's commitment to developing its energy sector and promoting sustainability. The success of PGSR in enabling Iran to become an exporter of gasoline is a significant achievement for the country, and highlights its resilience in the face of international sanctions.
