QU-YSC Concludes Fifth Youth Research Forum on Sustainable Development Goals


(MENAFN) The Qatar University Young Scientists Center (QU-YSC) recently concluded the Fifth Youth Research Forum 2023, which focused on the theme 'High Education Institutions and Their Role in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals.' The hybrid ceremony honored the winners of the forum in the presence of H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education, QU President Dr. Hassan Al Derham, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) Dr. Mohammed Youssef Al Mulla, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies Prof. Mariam Al Maadeed, and Director of QU-YSC Prof. Noora Al Thani.

This year's Youth Research Forum had a wider range of participants from 16 countries, with the submission of abstracts starting in June 2022. A total of 276 abstracts were received, out of which 186 were accepted. An evaluation committee consisting of professors specialized in various research fields from QU and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education reviewed 36 of the accepted abstracts.

The forum aimed to encourage and support youth research, innovation, and creativity on sustainable development goals. It provided an opportunity for young researchers to present their research work and findings to a wider audience, including distinguished guests from the government, academia, and industry. The forum also aimed to promote collaboration between young researchers and experts from different fields and to foster innovation and creativity.

The winning research projects covered a wide range of topics related to sustainable development goals, such as renewable energy, climate change, sustainable agriculture, water conservation, and waste management. The projects demonstrated the participants' commitment to addressing global challenges and their strong research capabilities.

The Youth Research Forum is an important platform for young researchers to showcase their talent and contribute to the sustainable development goals of the country and the world. It provides a valuable opportunity for young researchers to engage with experts from different fields, gain exposure, and receive recognition for their work.
