Pakistan Welcomes Resumption Of Saudi-Iranian Relations


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, March 11 (KUNA) -- Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday has welcomed as historic the signing yesterday of an agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran for resumption of diplomatic relations.
The China-mediated deal augurs well for peace, stability and economic development in the Middle East and Muslim world, Shehbaz said in a statement.
'It shows that with collective wisdom, win-win outcomes are possible,' he added.
Earlier in the day, Spokesperson of Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch warmly welcomed the deal, saying, that her country 'firmly believes that this important diplomatic breakthrough will contribute to peace and stability in the region and beyond.'
'We commend the role played by China's visionary leadership in coordinating this historic agreement, which reflects the power of constructive engagement and meaningful dialogue,' the spokesperson said in a statement.
'We appreciate the sagacious leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran for this very positive development,' she added. (end)
