Lorestan yearly honey production forecasted to amount to 3,700 tons by late March


(MENAFN) The yearly output of honey in Lorestan district is forecasted to amount to 3,700 tons in the present Iranian calendar year (closes on March 20).

In Lorestan, the overall amount of beekeepers is 3,537, the figure of people operating in this sector is 3,464, as well as there are 435,196 beehives in the district.

The average output of honey is around eight kilograms for every hive, which is low in comparison with the overall average, but because of the rising interest in beekeeping, the amount of hives this year in the province jumped by nearly eight percent on a year on year basis.

In line with the chairman of the Animal Science Research Institute of Iran (ASRI), Iran comes in the third spot across the whole world in the amount of apiaries.

Mokhtar Mohajer also stated that Iran's position in honey output is altering and soaring among fourth and sixth place globally.
