Moscow: Russia calls on all parties involved in the situation around the Korean Peninsula to concentrate on preventing a nuclear clash in Northeast Asia, while Moscow is committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, according to which there are only five nuclear powers, and cannot recognize the nuclear status of Pyongyang, said the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov.
'I would not like to talk about the prospects for an open nuclear confrontation in Northeast Asia, since the efforts of all parties involved should be concentrated on avoiding it. I will also add that the only reliable way is not just to move away from the dangerous line, but to solve numerous problems in a complex subregion, including the nuclear one, would be the creation of a peacekeeping system, within which, on the basis of the principles of equality, phased and synchronicity, security guarantees should be provided to all who need them,' Ryabkov added.
He noted in his interview to Sputnik News Agency that 'Russia is ready for dialogue and open to constructive contacts with all interested parties on the basis of joint initiatives with China, a road map and an action plan for a comprehensive settlement of the problems of the Korean Peninsula.'
The military tensions escalated on the Korean peninsula last year, as North Korea conducted weapons tests, including the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, which is the most advanced ever.
