Centre lures Airbus, Boeing to set up final assembly lines to capture its growing demand New Delhi, Jan 17 (KNN) Giving an expectations of 2,000 aircraft order from India in the coming decade, the central government is holding discussions with aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus to set up their Final Assembly Lines (FAL) in the country.
Within a span of 10 years, India is expected to race up and become the third largest Aviation market globally from its seventh position.
Its fast-growing middle class is increasingly taking to the skies, with passenger traffic rising by more than 50 per cent in 2022 itself.
To fulfil its growing demand, India will therefore, buy more than 2,000 aircraft in the next fifteen years as importing all these planes may prove to be expensive.
Sharp rise in imports of unladen aircraft of over 15,000 kg into the country was flagged as a major concern by the Ministry of Commerce
last month with the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
