US House will take vote to prevent rail attack

(MENAFN) The US House of Representatives will take a vote Wednesday on a measure to prevent a possible attack as early as Dec. 9, when President Joe Biden earlier cautioned of "catastrophic" penalties for the economy.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a statement on Tuesday that Biden called for Congress to act on the subject of rail attack and the House of Representatives will vote to force a hesitant agreement hit in September.

After her summit with Biden on Tuesday, Pelosi announced; "I don't like going against the ability of unions to strike. But weighing the equities, we must avoid a strike. Jobs will be lost. Even union jobs will be lost."

Earlier, Biden called for Congress to act, stating more than 765,000 Americans might lose their jobs in the first two weeks along.

Biden added; "Congress, I think, has to act to prevent it. It's not an easy call, but I think we have to do it. The economy is at risk."
