A vehicle veered off the Herat-Badghis highway in western Afghanistan and tipped over resulting in 3 fatalities and 3 injuries, local sources in the northwestern Afghan province of Herat said.

The traffic incident took place on Tuesday, the 11th of October, as the car was traveling from Herat province to Qala-e-Naw, the provincial capital of Badghis, according to the sources familiar with the accident.

The sources added that the vehicle which overturned veered of the highway near the Band Sabzak region, killing 3 people and injuring another 3.

The Heart-Badghis highway, which has recently shown itself to be risky for driving, was the scene of another fatal traffic accident last week that claimed the lives of two women.

The passenger minibus driver was repairing a mechanical issue that had caused the minibus to be stopped on the highway when the accident last week occurred, which resulted in the deaths of two women.

The minibus started moving, with passengers jumping out of it, except for the two women who were trapped when the minibus fell into the valley.

Careless driving, congested roads, and a disregard for traffic regulations are the main contributors to traffic accidents in the country, significantly contributing to the traffic-related deaths in Afghanistan.
