Doha: Qatar Airways (QA) entered a strategic partnership with the Qatar cricket Association (QCA) to sponsor the Qatar National Cricket team's participation in upcoming international competitions.

The agreement brings together the local governing body of cricket and the award-winning airline to support the National Team's bid on the global stage.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, H E Akbar Al Baker, said:“At Qatar Airways, we value our local sports teams and their endeavours as they contribute considerably to the community. The success of Qatar's top cricketers represents the country's keenness to develop sporting talents and bring forth cutting-edge sport facilities, in addition to hosting major competitions. We are proud to be the Silver Sponsor and the First National Team Sponsor for the Qatar National Cricket Team.”

QCA President Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said:“We are delighted to continue this noble endeavour with Qatar Airways, which reiterates our commitment to fully support our athletes who represent the nation and compete in the international arena.”

“This sponsorship also demonstrates our dedication to further the promotion of the sport in Qatar and to strengthen our partnership with key institutions such as Qatar Airways, giving our athletes the necessary boost to reach greater heights,” he said, as he thanked Qatar Olympic Committee and the International Cricket Council for their invaluable support.

The Qatar team has already participated in four international competitions in Canada, Malaysia, and Tanzania hosted by the International Cricket Council (ICC). They are scheduled to take part in the Cricket World Cup Challenge League A in Malaysia from December 1 - 14.

At the U19 World Cup Asia Division 2 qualifier, Qatar will be competing against Thailand, Hong Kong, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore.

The Cricket World Cup Challenge League A will see them going against Canada, Singapore, Denmark, Malaysia, and Vanuatu.

Qatar Airways and QCA, two prestigious institutions, have previously partnered in sponsoring the QCA T20 Tournament 2022, which witnessed the participation of 64 teams at the West Bay cricket grounds in June this year.
