Official: Turkey seeks to become highest in Islamic economics

(MENAFN) Turkey targets to place itself as the top nation in Islamic economic, a senior finance representative stated on Tuesday.

Goksel Asan, chief of the presidency's Finance Office, informed a publicity event for the participation finance plan document in Istanbul that "Unlike many countries claiming to be an Islamic financial center in the world, Türkiye has very important advantages based on its historical, cultural, geopolitical and economic background."

He stated that they have been putting high efforts to accomplish this aim.

His remarks came a day after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed to take further steps to promote development of participation finance.

Erdogan on Monday stated that the participation economic system lacks its possibility in Turkey, where people's spiritual sensitivities are high.

Asan stated that they witness the contribution economics plan not only as an arrangement putting savings to good usage along with religious sensitivities, but also as a motivating force that has possibility to play a vital part in the nation's development as well as economic independence.
