Uk’s Labour Party head promises to establish new publicly owned energy firm

(MENAFN) Sir Keir Starmer, the head of Britain’s center-left, high opposition Labour side, provided a keynote speech on Tuesday at the party's yearly meeting, in which he promised to establish a new publicly owned renewable energy firm.

Great British Energy might “cut bills, create jobs, and deliver energy independence,” he stated, making remarks to France’s EDF as an example.

Starmer condemned Britain’s shortage of a publicly-possessed energy firm, stating that Brits were in effect funding other nations.

While giving his speech in Liverpool, he stated that "Energy bills in Swansea are paying for schools and hospitals in Stockholm".

Starmer continued: "The Chinese Communist Party has a stake in our nuclear industry. And five million people in Britain pay their bills to an energy company owned by France.”

Starmer pledged to launch GB Energy within the opening year of a Labour administration, stating that the prospects in clean power were good for jobs, growth and energy independence.
