Foreign minister believes US must value Turkey’s significant role

(MENAFN) One “thank you” from the US falls far short of identifying Turkey’s remarkable significance for Washington, as stated by the nation’s head diplomat on Saturday.

Citing the historic grain agreement achieved this July in Istanbul, which unclogged Ukrainian shipments to the world, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that "In foreign policy areas, when we look at US priorities, Türkiye remains not one of the most important actors, but the most important actor. So the US should not belittle Türkiye's importance by just saying 'the grain deal is done, thank you’."

Clearing hurdles and addressing differences among the two nations benefits both parties, Cavusoglu informed members of the Turkish American community in Los Angeles, California.

Turning to the Turkey-US Strategic Mechanism recognized last October, he stated that both nations should solve problems, and grow collaboration, which he stated "is the goal.”

"We need to take concrete steps too," he also mentioned.
