Thai pub landlord deals with charges of carelessness after fire killed 15 people


(MENAFN) The landlord of a music pub in eastern Thailand where a fire last week murdered 15 people and wounded over three dozen others was free to go on bail when he was carried to court on Monday to receive criminal charges against him.

Pongsiri Panprasong, landlord of the Mountain B pub in Sattahip region of Chonburi district, nearly 160 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, turned himself in late Saturday.

Police convicted the 27-year-old as the reason of death by carelessness and working an entertainment site without authorization. He might deal with an up to 10 years in jail and a fine of up to 200,000 baht (USD5,580).

At his Monday court attending, the court ruled for him to get discharge on bail of 300,000 baht (USD8,390) on an order that he wear a tracking device.

Live bands frequently played on a stage at the club, including as the fire started early Friday morning on the roof above them. Police have stated that the site was permitted only for action as a restaurant.
