Bijou Clinches QCTC Championship Title, Leads Indian Podium Sweep

India's Alan Bijou won the title at the Qatar Chess Training Center (QCTC) U-16 Championship, held under the supervision of the Qatar Chess Federation.
The tournament saw the participation of 40 players and was held in the presence of Mohammed Al Madhahka, President of the Qatar Chess Federation, and Yousef Muhammad Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the Federation and Supervisor of QCTC.

Bijou clinched the title after collecting five points, while the second place was won by Jayaditya Jantayt, followed by Pranav Pradeep in the third place to make it an Indian podium sweep.

 

India's Noah Nizar won the best player in the U-12 age category while Talib Dahman won the best Qatari player award. The U-10 category was won by India's Krishna Tisjaswi. The youngest Qatari participant, Asma Al Hammadi, was also honoured during the presentation ceremony،

“We are pleased with the success of the tournament and the players' keenness to participate in the competitions, which were very strong and the points were very close. The plan of the Qatar Chess Federation is based on refining talent, focus and attention to young players to prepare a generation of chess that is aware of what is coming from various tournaments and competitions under the guidance of the Federation's Board of Directors, headed by Muhammad Al Madhahka,' Al Mutawa said after crowning the winners.

“This tournament is held on a monthly basis with the participation of players at the QCTC, and we have great confidence that such activities will show us new faces of Qatari chess in the coming period to participate in various international events,'he added.
