(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Riyadh, July 07, 2022, SPA -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's welcome to the agreement to establish the armistice in the sisterly Republic of Yemen, and stresses the importance of opening the humanitarian crossings in Taiz.
It commended the efforts of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to enhance commitment to the current United Nations patronized armistice in line with the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced in March 2021 to end the crisis in Yemen and reach a comprehensive political solution.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the Kingdom's firm position and support for everything that guarantees the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen and achieves the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people.
It affirmed that the armistice aims primarily to reach a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen and start the political process between the Yemeni government and Houthis. It also stresses the importance of the Houthis' commitment to the provisions of the current armistice, the speedy opening of crossings in Taiz to alleviate human suffering in Taiz, and depositing revenues in the Central Bank of Yemen to pay the salaries of civilians.
