White House Communications Director Resigns

Washington: The White House announced Thursday that Communications Director Kate Bedingfield has resigned from her position.

US Al-Hurra channel reported a statement issued by the White House that Bedingfield, who was one of the first to join the electoral campaign of Democratic candidate Joe Biden, has submitted her resignation and will leave her position at the end of July to spend more time with her husband and their children.

The White House did not reveal in its statement the identity of the person who will succeed Bedingfield.

The White House Communications Director has the responsibility to defend the president's agenda and decisions.

Her departure, along with a number of White House communications officials, comes at a time when US President Joe Biden is facing a public approval rating close to the lowest level of his presidency.
