US TSA Reports 'Highest Checkpoint Volume' Since Feb. '20

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, July 3 (KUNA) -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said Saturday that US airports recorded 'pre-pandemic checkpoint volume' on Friday.
TSA Spokesperson Lisa Farbstein tweeted that 'TSA officers screened 2,490,490 people at airport security checkpoints nationwide yesterday, Friday, July 1.'
'It was the highest checkpoint volume since Feb. 11, 2020, when 2,507,588 people were screened. We are back to pre-pandemic checkpoint volume,' she indicated.
The Fourth of July weekend is considered a busy travel season in the US, also causing chaos with thousands of flights being cancelled or delayed.
According to CNN, citing Department of Transportation data, US airlines have canceled this year 3.5 percent of flights, up 42 percent over 2019.
Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg tweeted that passengers are 'entitled to cash refunds for canceled flights - that's a requirement that we will continue to enforce.' (end)
