Katowice: The Ministry of Municipality participated in the meeting of heads of delegations and officials of the Regional Office of the Arab States of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), on the sidelines of 11th World Urban Forum, which concluded on Thursday in the Polish city of Katowice.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Ministry's delegation headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Urban Planning Affairs Eng. Fahad Al Qahtani, the latest developments and efforts of Arab countries in the regional office of the programme were reviewed.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Qatari delegation held several meetings with officials of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN Habitat), including a meeting with the Director of the Regional Office for Arab States of the United Nations Human Settlements Program Dr. Erfan Ali, and with the Head of the UN-Habitat GCC Office Dr. Ameera Al Hassan, where they discussed aspects of joint cooperation and exchange of experiences in various fields related to urban planning, and their experiences in this field were reviewed.
The delegation met with the Director of Municipalities and Housing Department in the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council Eng. Abdullah Al Rubaie, and the Director General of Studies and Research Department at the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Khaled Al Mutlaq Al Nafii, where they reviewed the latest developments in the strategic plans of the GCC Secretariat and benefited from the experiences of the participating countries.
On the sidelines of the forum, the delegation also met with the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program Maimunah Mohd Sharif, where they were thanked for the success of the forum's activities.
