Doha: Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria H E Abdulaziz Ali Al Naama stressed that the visit of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Algeria to attend the opening ceremony of the 19th Mediterranean Games in Oran, Algeria – in response to the generous invitation of President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria H E Abdelmadjid Tebboune — reflects the strength of bonding between the two brotherly countries.
In a statement to QNA, His Excellency underlined that H H the Amir's attendance reflects the highest indication of appreciation of His Highness for President Abdelmadjid Tebboune as well as the special importance His Highness attaches to Algeria.
Ambassador Al Naama said that the Qatari-Algerian relations are witnessing continuous development and steady growth since the visit of His Highness to Algeria in February 2020 and the momentum and dynamism it witnessed. The relationship between the two countries increased in strength and diversity with the visit of President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune in February 2022, which culminated in memorandums of understanding and important cooperation agreements and a great consensus on visions on Arab, regional and international issues, he pointed out.
Ambassador Al Naama said that the two sides are also in the process of signing other new agreements in the future that will pave the way for a deep strategic partnership between the two countries, explaining that this continuous development in relations is nothing but the fruit of the efforts of the brothers in both countries to achieve greater rapprochement in the hope of reaching a partnership worthy of the status and size of the two brotherly countries.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that organising the Mediterranean Games is a practical interpretation of Algeria's belief in rapprochement and brotherhood among the peoples of the world, and an affirmation that it is present and assertive in international forums, not only by participating but also by organising global sports, political and economic events.
In conclusion of his statement, he said that the success of such tournaments and events that are held in the Arab world is a success for all. It is also irrefutable evidence that Arabs are capable of many things and can dazzle the world, the Ambassador added, noting that it can give an honourable image of the Arab world away from the stereotypical image of the Middle East, which will also be proven by the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in November.
