Egypt's Eleinen Stuns Mosaad To Reach Semi-Finals In Doha

Doha: Egypt's Aly Abou Eleinen continued his fine form at the PSA Challenger QSF #4 event, shocking second seed Omar Mosaad in a five-game thriller at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex yesterday. 

The unseeded 22-year-old, who stunned Qatar's Abdulla Mohd Al Tamimi in the last-16 stage, defeated his compatriot Mosaad 9-11, 11-4, 11-13, 16-14, 11-7 in 66 minutes to book semi-final with Leonel Cardenas. The fourth-seeded Mexican progressed after dispatching Pakistan's Tayyab Aslam 21-19, 11-4, 11-2 (34 minutes) in the other quarter-final.

Meanwhile, top seed Victor Crouin of France and India's Ramit Tandon will face off in the first semi-final of the event today. 

Yesterday, Crouin registered an 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7 win over Egypt's Mazen Gamal in 49 minutes while fifth seed Tandon advanced after a hard-fought 11-9, 5-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-8 victory over Egypt's Karim El Hammamy. The match lasted 73 minutes.

The semi-finals will begin at 6pm.
