Brazilian Mission Proposes Strengthening Ties With Kuwait

São Paulo – The Brazilian mission to Kuwait , led by the Brazilian special secretary for Strategic Affairs, Flávio Rocha, discussed the improvement of bilateral relations with businesspeople from the Arab country beyond trade to the level of cooperation, investment, and partnerships.

This was the subject of a meeting held this Thursday (26) at the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), attended by members of the Brazilian delegation and businesspeople from the Arab country. The mission led by the Special Secretariat for Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil also includes representatives from other federal government agencies and the private sector.



Al-Jouaan received the delegation

The delegation was received by the vice president of the KCCI, Fahad Yacoub Al-Jouaan, who expressed he saw the visit as a demonstration of the importance Brazil gives to Kuwait, given the size of the delegation. He spoke about the need to continue this relationship, not only concerning trade but also cooperation in different areas.



Baltazar and Solimeo: Partnerships

As part of the Brazilian delegation, the director of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) office in Dubai, Rafael Solimeo, spoke at the meeting in a similar approach to Al-Jouaan. He said Brazil seeks to strengthen the existing trade basket with Kuwait, add new products, and establish partnerships with the Arab country.

Federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, also taking part in the mission, spoke to the Kuwaitis mainly about the Amazon rainforest and sustainability actions conducted by the Brazilian government. Kuwaiti businesspeople were highly interested in Brazil, especially in its agribusiness, defense, services, and advocacy sectors, among other areas.



Discussions on cooperation

Also at the event were the director of Institutional Relations at the ABCC, Fernanda Baltazar; deputy director-general for Business Development of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), Mohammad Yousef Mulla Yaqoub; Brazilian ambassador to Kuwait, Francisco Holanda; managing director of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), Roberto Escoto; business analyst of ApexBrasil, Sabrina Cenni; among others.

After the meeting, the Brazilians were received for lunch, an opportunity for business people from both countries to make contacts. The trip to Kuwait is part of a mission promoted by the Brazilian government to nine Arab and Eastern European nations. Within the Arab bloc, it will also visit Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
