The former royalty moved to the city around six months ago. As per The Japan Times , she is working on the MET's exhibition focusing on Japanese scroll paintings. The painting is about Ippen. Ippen is a famous traveling monk who wandered across the country in the Kamakura period. However, another source reported that she was not on the MET's payroll.
The former princess is very familiar with art and curation. She has a degree in art and cultural heritage from Tokyo's International Christian University. Additionally, she holds a master's degree in an art museum and gallery studies from the University of Leicester. Since graduating, she has been juggling her royal duties and working as a special researcher at the University of Tokyo's Museum.

Mako Komuro is the daugter of Fumihito, the crown prince of Japan. She made headlines in 2021 after shedding her royal titles to marry Kei Komuro. Kie is a commoner and her college sweetheart. Her engagement in 2017 led to years of media and public scrutiny. Additionally, a scandal emerged due to financial disputes involving Kei's mother. However, in September 2021, the former Japanese princess announced that she is turning down the $1.3 million payouts that she was entitled to.
The couple married on October 26 and moved to New York to start a new life. Since then, the two have been seen around New York City by both media and the public. Additionally, Kei Komuro was seen at an exam hall for New York State bar exam. This was his second attempt at attaining the qualification.
