Dubai to host forum on Latin America Image

São Paulo – A business forum focused on Latin America will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from March 23 to 24. The Global Business Forum Latin America (GBF Latin America) will explore possibilities for economic cooperation between the UAE and Latin America and the Caribbean region. According to information made public by the organizers, Brazil's president Jair Bolsonaro will speak remotely. Pictured, the last edition of the forum.

The GBF Latin America is held by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in partnership with Expo 2020 Dubai, the world exhibition taking place in the UAE, which will host the forum. Over 800 representatives from 50 countries are expected, including government and business leaders, policymakers and investors from Latin America, the Caribbean and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

This year's GBF will be themed“ Towards a Resilient Future ,” and discussions are structured around three pillars: Reform, Empower and Grow, which are designed to tackle timely issues such as regional trade integration, tax reforms and new policies to drive foreign investment and trade, digital economy trends and bilateral business opportunities that can drive sustainable growth in the post-COVID-19 era.

“GBF Latin America 20221 comes at the right time, as the countries in the region emerge from the pandemic and take progressive strategies to prepare their economies for the future, build transborder partnerships and boost sustainable growth. Despite the challenges, there have also been huge opportunities, especially within the areas of digital economy, logistics, technology, and healthcare,” Hamad Buamim, president & CEO of Dubai Chambers, was quoted as saying in a statement.

Bolsonaro will speak on the 23th at 9:40 am (GST) – 4:40 pm (BRT). Colombia's president Iván Duque Márquez will speak remotely, too. Haiti's prime minister Ariel Henry will be in person at the event. GBF Latin America is held under the patronage of UAE vice president and prime minister and Dubai ruler Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Brazilian speakers will include Dyogo Oliveira, president of National Association of Airport Management Companies (ANEAA); Fabricio Pezente, CEO of startup TrAIVE; Gustavo Montezano , president of National Development Bank (BNDES); Lucas Fiuza, New Business Director of Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil); Luiza Helena Trajano , president of company Magazine Luiza; and Marcos Troyjo, president of New Development Bank, the old BRICS bank.
