Trend:
Russia has been the major grain exporter to Azerbaijan since
2021, Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov said
during a discussion of the Cabinet's report on activities in 2021
at a plenary session of the Parliament, Trend reports.
The prime minister noted that the Russian government had raised
export duties on grain.
Obviously, this led to an increase in prices for wheat and flour
products. The Azerbaijani State has allocated up to 75 million
manat ($44.1 million) of subsidies to cover this difference, Asadov
said.
'But this was before the war. Recent world events and Russia's
export ban must be taken into account. However, today it became
known that Russia lifted the export ban. Azerbaijan has enough
grain stocks, so I would like to note that there will be no
problems with 11-12 main export products. We believe that peace
will prevail and this issue will be resolved,' he added.
