IASE Commemorates International Women's Day

Srinagar- The Institute of Advance Studies in Education on Tuesday held celebrations on International Women's Day.

The International Women's Day is celebrated on 8th March every year to celebrate the progress made towards achieving gender equality and women empowerment.

A daylong programme was held at the college auditorium in which students and the faculty of the college took part.

Women's Day Celebration at IASE

The opening session started with the recitation of the College tarana by the college students.

The inaugural address was presented by the Principal of the College, Prof Ruhi Jan Kanth. She emphasized on the importance of commemorating the day and acknowledging the positive role women play in everyone's lives.

“We live in a patriarchal setup and there is a need to end the culture of patriarchy and misogyny” she said.

She also underscored the need to appreciate women in their daily lives and acknowledge their contribution.

Faculty Of the College taking pledge to end the culture of misogyny and patriarchy.

“The role of women is often neglected which should not happen” she added.

During the course of the programme the students of the college undertook an oath to end the gender stereotypes prevelant in our society.

Dr Shaheen Akhtar, presented a keynote address and raised concern about the women health and the steps that needed to be taken in this regard.

IASE students taking part in Poster Competition Mother-First School of the Child.

The vote of thanks was presented by Dr Tabassum Maqbool and Dr Nuzhat Nasreen was Rapporteur for the session.

A poster competition on the theme Mother-First School of the Child was also held in which many students participated.

In order to appreciate women the celebrations will go on for a week, the college Principal said.
