Qatar University hosts 18th annual meeting of AArU

Doha: Qatar University (QU) recently hosted the two-day long 18th annual meeting of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU).

During this meeting, a report of the General Secretariat on its activities and an overview of the higher education institutions affiliated with the General Secretariat was reviewed.

The meeting was attended by 31 presidents of the Federation of Arab Universities, including the heads of the Federation of the Arab Council for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, the Director of the Arab Council for Student Activities, and the Secretary General of the Arab Media Associations. Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, the Union's Secretary-General, spoke in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General, Prof. Khamisi Hamidi, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Rahim Al Hinti.

Prof. Dr. Ezzat thanked Qatar University for hosting the event. He added that despite the difficult circumstances due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Union held many lectures and virtual workshops.

The gathering discussed several important issues, including submitting a report and a brief presentation on the activities of each of the union's councils, a summary of the Journal of the Association of Arab Universities for Research in Higher Education, and the General Secretariat's report on the Journal of Quality Assurance in Higher Education 2021.

The meeting also discussed the role of the affiliated institutions of the federation, as they are the most important pillars in the performance of its mission.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hassan Al Derham, President of Qatar University, received the Presidency of the General Secretariat of the Federation in his office.
