Following a 12-year manhunt, Australian Police have taken hold of one of the country's most wanted criminals. The run has certainly come to an end. Graham Potter, 64, had been on the run since 2010. He had failed to appear in court in Victoria, where he was guilty of conspiracy to kill. The police put him behind the bars on Monday morning. The arrest comes after they obtained input that he was thousands of kilometres away in Queensland .
For the past 12 years, authorities have been searching for the criminal. In 2008 , he was on the radar for federal drug charges for reportedly smuggling 15 million ecstasy tablets into tinned tomatoes, culminating in a 4.4-tonne ecstasy haul. 'Acting on information received, Tablelands Detectives, uniformed police and the Cairns Dog Squad attended an Ascham Street residence at approximately 8:45 am where the 64-year-old was located and taken into custody,' Victoria Police said.
“Over that period of time, a significant amount of law enforcement agencies right across Australia had been involved in the hunt for [Potter],” Victoria Police Acting Assistant Commissioner Mick Frewen said.
Moreover, there was a reward of $100,000 for evidence directing his arrest. Potter's extradition will be by Victorian cops in Queensland. He will likewise appear in Mareeba Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
