Heusgen: Germany must provide Ukraine with defensive weapons in current situation

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Christoph Heusgen, newly elected chairman of the Munich Security Conference, believes that Germany must provide Ukraine with defensive weapons in the current situation, given Russia's escalation.

Heusgen made a corresponding statement during an online discussion of the Kyiv Security Forum entitled 'Russia vs the West and Ukraine: what to expect next?' on February 16, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to Heusgen, he is closely following the events in Ukraine and how Ukrainians fight for their freedom and how brave they are.

He also mentioned the Babyn Yar, where more than 30,000 Jews and Ukrainians were killed just over two days during World War II.

'I was in that place, I am convinced that Germany must provide defensive weapons to Ukraine in the current situation,' Heusgen said.
